Problems with YAM Pool-Mining
« on: November 27, 2014, 06:52:08 AM »
Hello,
since 2 or 3 weeks my MMC Pool Mining does not work stable anymore.
Currently YAM find about 70 Shares and then the CPU-Usages goes down to 3%. YAM is running, but find nothing more ... what to do?

My CFG-File:

Code: [Select]
threads = 12
mining-params = mmc:av=1&aesni=on&m=1024
mine = stratum+tcp://MUVFSWb2BTe9h98Gd6TE6NzthRcg6CPYEJ@santana.mmc-square.com:8080/mmc
compact-stats = 1
print-timestamps = 0

I confirm this. I also have same problem.
My cpus are Core I5 3570K and Xeon E1230V2 and config is:

Code: [Select]
threads = 4
mining-params = mmc:av=2&aesni=on&m=4096&donation-interval=100
mine = stratum+tcp://MHunaM56KHMDSvFWDPYYy5iEJTD88SreLk@mmc-square.com:8080/mmc
compact-stats = 1
print-timestamps = 0

Usinfg last Yam version.
Any suggestions?

I don't have an immediate answer but I would try, perhaps from a new folder, run YAM with default settings but start it from a command prompt. ie; right click in the folder and select 'open command prompt here'

also, I presume you are using the Ivy Bridge version of Yam? may be worth trying the generic one?
I would set av=0 and mem to 1024 just as a baseline. I had an odd issue with version 'v' where I had to turn aes off to make it run at all!! odd thing was that this problem cleared itself after about 24hrs.....something else on that pc must have been interfering somehow. Now that is a point! are you using the machine for other tasks??
regards
Terry

I recommend having a line for both of the pool points, so your system has a fall back.

Code: [Select]
threads = 8
mining-params = mmc:av=1&aesni=on&m=1024
mine = stratum+tcp://MEYjZbVaFp6wDgUyyztrJMS7kqSNXbCBUU@mmc-square.com:8080/mmc
mine = stratum+tcp://MEYjZbVaFp6wDgUyyztrJMS7kqSNXbCBUU@santana.mmc-square.com:8080/mmc
#proxy = socks4a://127.0.0.1:9150
compact-stats = 1
print-timestamps = 0

Adding that second line provides santana.mmc-square.com as a fallback point if mmc-square.com is at a push point and can't feed more work. I always work with a fall back point and see higher mining profits as a result.

eire1274,
thanks for suggestion!
But the problem is not with mmc-pool, the problem with YAM-miner.

The earlier versions of YAM were problematic because they stopped mining when donation shares couldn't be given to the author.

Problem with stopping mining was addressed in M7x version. If you are using older pre-M7x versions you shall update to M7x because of most (if not all) pools stopped supporting getwork protocol that was major protocol for MMC for a long time.
Getwork is still supported by M7x to allow direct mining with wallet.

Btw, yvg1900, why yam-miner still trying to connect to dead pools like mmcpool and 1gh?

Because of I still did not get clear response from their maintainers that they shut their MMC operations permanently.
For example, DwarfPool may reconsider opening MMC pool again if MMC will get some traction and publicity.
I drop support for pools that made clear statement that they are not going to continue their operations either by public announcement, in private conversations, or whose domain names expired/hosting shut down. If pool site is alive, but MMC ports are down I keep them in my list.
I encountered multiple situations where pool operators were changing their coin support decisions after communicating with coin development teams.

I don't really like (and i think most people also) persistent connection tries to dead pools :-[
yvg1900, can you, please, modify yam-miner so people can turn on/off not working pools in config file?

I will check what I can do.
Thing is that yam currently supports more than a hundred different pool name/port combinations (for all coins), and many of them "look dead" at the time of version release and then "resurrect".
I have very strict pool compatibility check policy, and this is well-established mostly automated staging process.
In any case, I will check what I can do with this.
