General Discussion / MMCv4

What do you think about resetting the block-chain in-terms of switching over to a new source-code: thus fixing this coin by using the crypto-currency source code of http://cryptonote-coin.org/

It has way more updated features, along with an in-client mining feature, already embedded in the wallet (open-source) and adjustable P2Pool mining pools as well.

It's important to note that the algorithm is extremely similar to Memorycoin except for the fact that it has a lower RAM footprint and relies on your processor's L3 cache or "faster memory" instead of the AES-NI Module in the CPU.

I will have to do some tedious adjustments to keep the 2% phase and supply method, similar to Memorycoin since it has a 6 minute transaction block time with a 2% inflation rate - the higher block times IMO is better for a light footprint to allow incredibly faster adoption rates in a less-bloated network.

Old coins will be imported back for MMC on the existing network eventually, since a lot of MMC is still laying around and could provide a market price for MMC at a "market rate" on the new network.

General Discussion / Server Progress
« on: November 18, 2015, 04:25:35 AM »
As you realized some bots have been spamming the forums and I've switched the forums' anti-spam registration type to reCaptcha.

Due to some performance issues that were consistent with the old webserver I've also moved the website to a new server with DDOS protection.

General Discussion / Need Community Input about First-Time Users
« on: May 19, 2015, 07:26:17 AM »
You're a new Memorycoin user, and it's going to take a while to download the network blocks. (~1GB @ less than 1mbit/s + CPU).

You want security in a cryptocurrency, which is why you chose to have currency in the first place.

Now, would you trust downloading an external block-chain in order to load the wallet within a very short time?
There are several other options to do a security check on the block-chain such as:

  • Self-Check blocks by Re-Indexing the entire block-chain from the Genesis Block. (Block #1 to the current block.)
Why it's good: Decrease Memorycoin network node utilization in terms of uploading block data. Verification hashes are still checked. Paranoid users can utilize this option.

  • Check a certain amount of blocks from a certain checkpoint, which could be double-checked against the block-chain through the source code.
For example: Block #100,000's and every thousand block's hash will be input into the source code as a verified checkpoint for Memorycoin users who pass through this block. If the block does not match, the client will orphan/discard it. Users who download the block-chain can use this as verification against the network.

I was thinking of directly packaging and inserting check-points into the source code to secure the network. New users can get started with Memorycoin in less than 5-10 minutes (on a fast connection) by running a nightly pack of the network and having an up to date client that will verify the checkpoint blocks are intact before utilizing the block-chain.

The only disadvantage to this concept is that there will always be security flaws, but we must get past that since the option to re-download the entire chain from scratch is always there.

We are able to provide more than enough bandwidth (over 100TB@1gbps+ for entire block-chain transfers to individual clients) through Bittorrent Protocol.
It's also possible to implement HTTPS transfers through a conceptualized CDN network at a very reasonable price, if HTTP were to be the most popular option.

CEO / Some Progress

Hello all,

I'm currently in the process of getting finishing the server migrations and getting the old services back online.
The old Faucet and Wallet(with SSL) will be online shortly.

Also more pools will be coming back online. The server upkeep fee will be 1.5%.

Reply here if you would like any more information!

General Discussion / Server Migration Completed
« on: May 01, 2015, 06:50:06 PM »
We've successfully moved to mmc-forums.com! The new download links and other items that had previously referred to mmc-square are still being updated.

I've been noticing that we don't have a working MMC Mining calculator.
I'd like to generate one based on empirical data.

Please upload your .csv with just your mining address within a 30 day period or more.
i.e. January to Febuary, Febuary to March, or March to April, or all three months.

Thanks everyone!

Candidacy Declarations / Filling the Position
« on: December 21, 2014, 01:22:02 AM »
I'd like to take over the CTO position in order to put in some extra work in the technical aspect of Memorycoin:

To be done:

  • MMC-Votes.com Website Creation
  • MMC-Wallet.com Upgrade
  • Memorycoin-QT Wallet Enhancements

The other reason is that an old candidate (who is still elected but resigned, has been selling his MMC at market -- AFTER he resigned...)

We need 230,770 MMC Votes to kick off Robonix (Resigned Officer) from CTO.
Robonix had filled in as CMO 2.0 by taking the CTO position. He has been selling on BTer without any work for MMC and not responding to messages. The only evidence I have is that his MMC has been used in inputs of transactions sent to BTer's Deposit Addresses.

Still remaining in his wallet:
>2,400.00 MMC

November 1st - 909.55505887 MMC
October 18th - 1134.55675249 MMC
October 4, 2014 - 811.14459273 MMC

September 24th, 2014 - 1848.16181608 MMC
September 4th, 2014 - 782.64945013 MMC

August 28th, 2014 - 2,022.00 MMC

August 10th, 2014 - 1,310.00 MMC

July 30th - 217.00 MMC
July 26th - 309.00 MMC

July 26th - 147.00 MMC
July 19th - 2211.50515464 MMC
July 5th - 665.00 MMC
July 1st - 321.02318723 MMC

June 29th - 883.50966015 MMC

June 23rd - 943.22601728 MMC

June 18th - 1,788.55912648 MMC

The evidence is powerful, vote for me and we will relieve selling pressure from the Market.

Web Hosting / Who wants Web Hosting?! (Accepting MMC ONLY)
« on: December 17, 2014, 02:38:12 AM »
Hey Memorycoin Community,

I'm trying to take a survey on who out there would like to use their MMC to buy some nice Web Hosting.

You can mine Memorycoin from your PC and buy web hosting with MMC! These servers are perfect for a small website or blog!

Prices will change and vary according to the Exchange rate. Weekly averages will usually be used in order to set prices up or down.
All coins received from buyers will not be sold and WILL BE KEPT.

These options are hypothetical until we have fully planned out how this will work. Please let us know if you're definitely interested in purchasing our product to be one of the first individuals who use Memorycoin for actual services.

Online Memorycoin Wallet
The Online Memorycoin Wallet is for power users who would like to store their MMC on our network for quick, and easy usage. We do not recommend using the online wallet to store MMC for longer than 30 days, for security purposes.
Please do not store more than 1000 MMC at once because if your credentials are stolen, the MMC will be disappear. We are not liable for any MMC lost.

  • Do not access your MMC on public networks or non-encrypted connections. We advise to wait until SSL is available on our website to create an account, as all information will be sent without encryption.
